The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best of you are the best to their wives" (Jami' at-Tirmidhi) — making a man's treatment of women the measure of his own goodness. In an Arabia where daughters were buried alive, Islam raised the mother, the daughter and the wife to honoured rank; a narration reported in Sunan an-Nasa'i describes Paradise as lying beneath the mother's feet.
