1.About this video
This new short on the Razia Azeem Official channel is about walidain ki khidmat — serving our parents — and its rank in the Quran and Hadith. Allah says: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor scold them, but address them in terms of honor" (Quran 17:23). That one verse tells us everything about where parents stand in our deen.
2.Key reflections
The Prophet ﷺ placed kindness to parents among the most beloved deeds to Allah: "The prayer at its proper time, then kindness to parents, then jihad in the path of Allah" (Sahih al-Bukhari 527; Sahih Muslim 85). He also said: "The pleasure of the Lord is in the pleasure of the parents, and the displeasure of the Lord is in the displeasure of the parents" (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 1899). And to the man who came seeking permission for jihad, he said: "Stay with your mother, for Paradise is beneath her feet" (Sunan Ibn Majah 2781). Serving parents is not an option or a favor — it is a doorway to Paradise, and the Quran teaches us to pray for them too: "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small" (Quran 17:24).
